Dear Commissioner Douglas Fischer:
As newly elected Bozeman Mayor (aka Deputy Mayor under the current City charter), you
have perhaps your first opportunity to stand up for neighborhood-friendly development,
which Application No. 25238 definitely is not.
Suffice to say that, in the Sundance Springs subdivision, a developer is once again proposing a
commercial development that is of a mass and scale not allowed under Sundance Springs's
Planned Unit Development (PUD) and Master Plan. And, once again the City's Community
Development Department has given or will give the go-ahead to such an illegal commercial
development proposal.
Specifically, Application No. 25238 VIOLATES THE PUD AND THE MASTER PLAN, which are the
basis for
for Sundance Spring's Covenants and Development Guidelines. These legally binding
documents specifically prohibit:
· Two, two story buildings (only one, one level building of 5,000 is allowed)
· A patio with extensive outdoor seating (prohibited)
· All outdoor activities (prohibited)
· A large restaurant or businesses designed to be city-wide attractions
(neighborhood size and scale are required)
I encourage you to contact Sundance Spring's Nancy Swanson for more details and do
everything you can to ensure Application No. 25238 is denied. Thank you.
