ego -8% or +2%)
Note: If Item 2 is greater than Item 1, the taxing jurisdiction's
taxable value has increased. To calculate the increase, subtract
Item 1 from Item 2, divide the result by Item 1 and multiply by
100%. That product will be the percent increases in taxable val-
ue.
If Item 2 is less than Item 1, the taxable value has decreased.
To calculate the decrease, subtract Item 2 from Item 1, divide the
result by Item 1 and multiply by 100%. The resulting product will
be the percent decrease in taxable value.
In accordance with SB71, if a taxing unit's taxable value
decreased by 5% or more from the previous year, the taxing unit
may increase the levy but only to such a point that the revenue
generated is no more than the revenue from property taxes for the
1986 tax year. Thus, if the % of change in Item 3 is -5% or
greater, the taxing jurisdiction could increase the mill levy.
If the taxable value (Item 3) does not decrease by 5% or more
between 1987 and 1988, please refer to 15-10-412(7), Attorney
General's Opinion 21, Vol. 42 and the Attorney General's letter to
John LaFaver (September 24, 1987) regarding that Opinion.
4. I c~:.that the % of taxable change (as listed in Item 3)
did/~~circle one) decrease by 5% or more.
