HomeMy WebLinkAbout015 Trip Generation Memo To: City of Bozeman, Engineering Department Attn: Candace Mastel, Transportation Demand Management Coordinator From: SET Engineering Re: Sundance Springs Preliminary Trip Generation Analysis Memorandum April 17, 2025 This memo is being provided to provide the City of Bozeman Engineering Staff with preliminary trip generation values for the subject project based upon the Landscape Plan, Area Plans – West Bldg, and Area Plans – East Bldg dated January 8th, 2025, provided by Miller Design/Build and included as Attachment A. As part of City’s site plan approval process, SET Engineering is providing trip generation information in lieu of a formal traffic impact analysis per engineering staff’s request. The conclusions outlined herein inform the need for further traffic impact analysis. Time Periods and Trip Generation The following trip generations values are determined for the purpose of this memo and are outlined in Attachment B. Calculations are performed with the ITE TripGen Web-Based App, which utilizes trip generation rates derived from the Institute of Transportation Engineers Trips Generation Manual, 11th Ed. (ITE, 11th Ed.). These values, as well as entering and exiting values are shown in detail in Attachment C. • Weekday Average Daily Trips are determined to be 331 Average Daily Trips (ADT).* • Weekday AM Peak Hour of Adjacent Street Traffic is determined to be 26 trips. • Weekday PM Peak Hour of Adjacent Street Traffic is determined to be 35 trips. • Weekday AM Peak Hour of Generator is determined to be 40 trips. • Weekday PM Peak Hour of Generator is determined to be 51 trips. * ITE Trip Generation does not have data regarding Weekday Average Daily Trips for Health/Fitness Clubs. Therefore, an expansion factor of 7.3 was applied to PM Peak Hour traffic data. Internal Capture Rate In mixed-use developments, traffic engineers need to assess the trips that originate and terminate internally by other uses on the site. These trips reduce the overall trip generation produced and are termed internal capture rates (ICR). National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) publication 684 defines ICRs for AM Peak and PM Peak periods, which are used for analysis of the subject project and highlighted in Attachment D. Please contact SET Engineering directly with any questions regarding traffic analyses for the subject project.
