Dear Mayor Cunningham and Commissioners,
I am currently an owner within Mountain Meadows or King Arthur Park, both of whichare located in Gallatin County, (not Bozeman city limits).
Your proposed October 7th letter to Mr. Gary Oakland does not reflect my views, and
I respectfully ask that you not include me or my fmaily in any public claims of
representation.
1. I am not a City of Bozeman resident.
I cannot vote in your elections. I cannot speak at your meetings in a way that
carries legal weight. Why, then, are you issuing formal letters of advocacy for
properties that lie outside your jurisdiction?
2. Mr. Oakland has the legal and ethical right to sell to whomever he chooses.Whether it’s to the highest bidder or a private party — that is entirely his
business, not mine, and especially not yours. No government body should be
inserting itself into a private real estate transaction under the guise of
“community values.”3. Do any of you — the commissioners — have leases with Mountain Meadows or
King Arthur Parks?
Does Bozeman Tenants United? My guess is no — only a few newly aligned
members likely reside here. You’re assuming representation without evidence, and that’s unacceptable.
4. Inflated Representation Claims?
It is known 338 homes in the parks. BTU claims 200+ members & 130 dues-
paying supporters. But how many of those live at the same address? Is that 130people or 130 units? If a resident-owned community (ROC) is formed, will each
person get a vote — or each home? Because 200 people ≠ 200 homes.
Representation matters, math matters, and transparency matters.
5. Times have changed.References to the year 1901 and the 1940s are not relevant to today’s legal
realities, financial markets, or property rights. These stories may sound noble,
but they don’t justify governmental interference in 2025.
6. You do not speak for me or my family.Unless you’ve had personal conversations with each of the 338 homes in the
parks, you do not get to speak for all of the owners or residents.
I respectfully ask that you refrain from any further representation or assumption
of my support.7. I am fearful of retaliation.
The tactics being used by Bozeman Tenants United — and by some public
supporters — feel more like bullying than advocacy. I ask that you keep my
name confidential, but record me as firmly opposed to your letter and its intent.
8. Your letter is a gross misuse of public resources.
City staff time, stationery, and your official titles were used to politically
advocate in a private matter outside your authority. That is an abuse of publictrust. You are not neutral observers — you’re campaigning with government
credibility. And that is not okay.
Respectfully, I urge you to retract or revise your letter and cease inserting yourselves
into a private matter where you hold no authority and no consent.
Sincerely,
Mickie Imberi
