HomeMy WebLinkAboutD Gary letter to Hist Pres Board To the Bozeman Historic Preservation Advisory Board We appreciate the opportunity to support this submission, and recognize the team that drove the renovation of our home at 412 West Olive. In addition to the skill they brought in each of their domains, the team was very collaborative, innovative and communicative, and overall, a pleasure to work with. Their expertise and commitment to the preservation of this historic home are evident both inside and out. Eli Shaul of Benchmark Custom, as the lead contractor was masterful. He brought together a team of subcontractors who shared his enthusiasm for the project. All of whom were experienced, creative and committed. We loved working with subs and watching them apply their skill and knowledge in tackling the challenges of renovating this century old house. Eli managed the team beautifully, and had a hand and voice in all aspects of the renovation. Eli and the team members noted below were instrumental in every aspect of the project, from design through working with the city to execution. Peter Brown was a key contributor in a number of ways, including helping us identify and contractors initially, leading to the decision to work with Eli. Eli and Peter continued to work together throughout the project. Peter contributed both in the design phase and in providing building and architectural know- how. Peter served as the primary interface with the city planning department. His efforts allowed us to enhance the expansiveness and functionality of the house, while maintaining the historic integrity of the home. One of the people Peter brought to the table was Larry Johnson, a structural engineer. Larry was instrumental in guiding us through a number of engineering issues, often consulting on-site and providing information to support our communications with the city. Nadine Stellavato Brown, of Stellavato Studio, was our designer and worked on many aspects of the project. She helped with the layout of the floor plan, making significant improvements in a number of areas. She designed the beloved trundle bedroom, the floating stairs and bar area, the built in bookshelves throughout, and re-envisioned the library with an eye to the original design. And more. In short, she had an imprint on the design and finishes throughout, and made everything better! Beth MacFawn, Montana Landscape Design, designed the landscape and plant selection. Dustin Van Dyke, Summitview Trees, together with Beth’s team, implemented the landscape the plan. We believe their outstanding work compliments the house and showcases a wonderful lot in this historic neighborhood. We are grateful to the entire team and extremely proud of their work in the renovation of 412 West Olive. We believe their work will carry this home for another hundred years. Sincerely, Diane and Mark Gary 412 West Olive Street
