Dear Bozeman City Commission and CIty Clerk, Please find attached my letter in strong opposition to the King Arthur resolution vote scheduled for Tuesday Oct 7th, 2025 Regards, -- Eli Anselmi Bozeman City Commission CandidateBozeman, MT Mobile: +1.406.581.1503 To: The Bozeman City Commission From: Eli Anselmi, Bozeman Resident and City Commission Candidate Subject: OpposiƟon to Commission AcƟon Regarding Private Property Outside City Limits Dear City of Bozeman Commissioners, I am wriƟng to express my strong opposiƟon to the City Commission’s consideraƟon of any acƟon or resoluƟon intended to pressure a private property owner whose land lies outside the city limits of Bozeman. Such an acƟon would represent a serious overreach of municipal authority and a blatant misuse of city resources, staff Ɵme, and taxpayer funds. The City Commission’s responsibility is to serve within the boundaries of its jurisdicƟon and to focus its aƩenƟon and resources on maƩers that directly affect the residents and taxpayers of Bozeman. Efforts to influence the decisions of private property owners outside city limits not only falls beyond that scope, but also risk seƫng a troubling precedent that undermines respect for private property rights; a fundamental principle in our community and our country. Furthermore, I am deeply concerned about the appearance of a conflict of interest in this maƩer. Deputy Mayor Joey Morrison, in his role as both a siƫng commissioner and founder of Bozeman Tenants United, appears to be advancing an agenda aligned with that organizaƟon’s goals. When an elected official uses their posiƟon to advocate for an outcome that benefits a group they founded and are affiliated with, it raises serious ethical quesƟons and erodes public trust in the imparƟality of city government. Bozeman residents expect their leaders to prioriƟze good governance, fiscal responsibility, and respect for the limits of municipal authority. Engaging in acƟons outside the city’s jurisdicƟon, at public expense, contradicts those expectaƟons and diverts aƩenƟon from the pressing issues within Bozeman’s own borders, including public safety, infrastructure and housing balance. I urge the Commission to refrain from pursuing or voƟng on any measure that seeks to exert influence over private property decisions beyond Bozeman’s jurisdicƟon. Let us instead uphold the principles of limited government, accountability, and respect for private ownership that have long underpinned our community’s integrity and success. Respecƞully, Eli Anselmi Bozeman Resident and Candidate for City Commission
