HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-17-25 Public Comment - T. Hofer - Cotoneaster bush removalStatement to the Bozeman City Commission
Good evening, Commissioners,
My name is Terrance Hofer, and I am a resident of Loyal Garden. I am here tonight to bring
forward a concern that has significantly impacted our neighborhood.
Recently, a large number of Cotoneaster bushes were removed along the edge of our
community. These plantings had long provided a visual and sound buffer between Loyal
Garden and Cottonwood Road. Their removal was done without any notice, consultation, or
discussion with the homeowners whose daily lives are directly affected.
The result has been immediate and severe: the view shed of our neighborhood has been
dramatically altered, and residents are now exposed to a noticeable increase in traffic noise
from Cottonwood Road ..
This action appears to have been a unilateral decision made by individuals, rather than one
reached in collaboration with homeowners or with transparent oversight from the City of
Bozeman. -Such a decision, with such a direct and negative effect on property owners, should
not be made without a proper process and public input.
I respectfully request that the City of Bozeman conduct a thorough investigation into this
matter-specifically, who authorized the removal, when the decision was made, and under
what authority it was carried out. This investigation should also include consideration of
how situations like this will be prevented in the future, so that residents and the city can
work together in making decisions that so deeply affect our community.
On behalf of myself and my neighbors, I ask for your attention, accountability, and action on
this issue. Thank you for your time and for your commitment to serving the people of
Bozeman.
