Just heard the first information of progress from the City and County Study Commissions on the OLLI program atNoon today. Why don't you include information about the Commission Work in this newsletter, EngageBozeman, and promote this newsletter more fully.I also wonder about the Neighborhood Councils. I live in northwest Bozeman and have never heard anythingabout a Neighborhood Council. I live in CT/Cottonwood Condominium and would love our 155 neighbors toknow about things going on in our district. In fact there are many Condominium groups in Bozeman that knownothing about our areas, the City, and the Study Commissions. I suggest you widen your market to include morepeople. We have a management company that sends emails to us all about important issues in our association, butnothing outside our legal boundaries.Thank you.Patricia Simmonspsimmons100@gmail.comCity resident ---------- Forwarded message ---------From: Engage Bozeman <notifications@engagementhq.com>Date: Thu, Sep 11, 2025 at 2:43 PMSubject: September Engage Bozeman DigestTo: <psimmons100@gmail.com> September Engage Bozeman Digest Hi Pat Simmons, The seasons are changing, and we're feeling it — from the last Bozeman Farmers Market this past week to Bobcat football back in full swing. We hope you had a good end to your summer and are settling into the routine of back to school. We're excited to share some updates and two new projects on Engage Bozeman. Be sure to read to the end for key September dates to track! New! College St Renovation 8th to 11th We're planning improvements to College Street between 8th and 11th Avenue. The project will improve pavement conditions while redesigning the street to enhance safety and accessibility for people walking, biking, and driving. The goal is to create a more cohesive connection that works well for both the college community and the neighborhood across College St. Over the last few years, the City has partnered with MSU on early outreach with students and business owners to look for solutions to pedestrian safety, improved bicycle infrastructure, and access spacing for driveways along the north curb. Check out the College St Corridor Exhibits in the Documents section on Engage Bozeman for preliminary design options. Be sure to follow this project on Engage Bozeman to be informed of upcoming engagement opportunities. New! Historic Preservation Awards 2025 The Historic Preservation Advisory Board is pleased to announce the 2025 Historic Preservation Awards and invites the community to submit nominations! These awards honor outstanding projects, properties, individuals, organizations, and acts of stewardship that contribute to historic preservation and celebrate Bozeman’s rich history and cultural heritage. Submit your nomination by filling out the nomination submission by October 5 on Engage Bozeman. There you can also find details about eligibility requirements and categories. Community Plan Technical Compliance Plan The City has posted a new population and economic forecast document to support the Bozeman Community Plan update. The document evaluates three alternative population and housing trends to take into account various possible alternatives. Be on the lookout for the draft release tomorrow, September 12. W Babcock 19th to 15th It's been a while since you've heard from us on this project, but we're currently taking a fresh look at the scope of the project. The corridor presents a number of challenges, and we want to make sure the benefits of potential improvements are the best use of available resources. As we plan for the next five years, we’re carefully considering funding priorities and where they can have the greatest impact. One option under review is scaling back the project, such as not building on the north side in order to preserve existing trees. We’re also conducting a traffic evaluation to better understand what benefits improvements in this corridor could bring. The results of that study will help guide decisions as part of the upcoming Capital Improvement Plan. Community feedback has played an important role in getting us to this point, and we welcome continued input as we evaluate the best path forward. Thanks for staying engaged with us! Other City Happenings You’ll Want to Know Affordable Housing and WARD Affordable housing is hard to build. And now you can see just how challenging it is by visiting this website and adjusting some of the levers: https://apps.urban.org/features/cost-of-affordable-housing/. This website reviews the major buckets adding to the cost of housing, including land, materials, labor, and lending. It also explains how important outside subsidy is - you can see how tax credits, which are limited and not given to every project, are incredibly impactful in making a building with affordable housing pencil out. This data is from Denver and has not been modeled for Bozeman, but we deal with similar funding challenges. This resource is a project of the Urban Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization. Its goal in this effort is to provide fact-based analysis about public and assisted housing. Curious to learn more about housing and how it relates to the Water Adequacy for Residential Development initiative that will be on this November's ballot? Visit engage.bozeman.net/ward. Fire Prevention Week Open House We’re kicking off Fire Prevention Week with an Open House! Join us on Sunday, October 5, at 2pm, at Fire Station 3 (1705 Vaquero Pkwy). We’ll have tours, demonstrations, and vehicles to explore. And, of course, information on how you can keep fire from happening and what to do if you are caught in a fire. Meet your local firefighters and learn more about some simple things you can do to be safer in your home. This event is fun, interesting, and informative for all ages. Hope to see you there!
