I understand that the growth has possibly outpaced some public safety concerns. However, knowing they are prevalent and that addressing them will save injuries and possibly lives, brings to light that each and every one of them is addressed as quickly as possible. I trust the staff will come to this conclusion as they develop a ‘program’. Take care, Michael Michael L. Regarding the specific intersection in question, we are selecting a contractor for permanent installation of neighborhood traffic circles along N Black this week. I sincerely apologize for the delay getting this one into the ground. More generally, your intersection complaint is one that has gained a lot of steam in the last few years. “Uncontrolled intersections” are a remnant of a time in Bozeman and Montana in general when low volume local streets were constructed without traffic control. I’ve been hesitant as Director to force change in the community as such things are often unappreciated, but this is one situation that may warrant some modernization. We have somewhere around 300 uncontrolled intersections in Bozeman, which will be a large effort to take on in planning and installation, but I will be directing staff to develop a program this winter. -Nick Nicholas Ross, P.E. I wanted to bring to your attention what I believe to be a serious traffic (flow) issue throughout many unmarked intersections within Town. For example, I watch (from my window) 10+ automobiles, on Villard, crossing Black every single day. They do so without any stop or even slowing down. There is a ‘yield’ sign, that is ignored, on Villard and nothing on Black. Last year, I believe, in effort to stop these potentially dangerous intersections, a large planter was placed in the middle of the intersection mentioned above (as well as others). It was removed, not replaced and now the traffic is, again, passing thru without slowing down, stopping or any regard for oncoming traffic. I know that there are many, many other intersections experiencing the same dilemma. My question is why are there such intersections that are unmarked - without stop signs? I am sure there have been traffic incidents and, if not, there will be! This is relatively easy to mitigate!!! Kindly respond to my email and please address the intersections, throughout town, that would benefit from traffic controls. Thank you Michael L.
