Hello Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Commissioners, and Community Development Staff,
I am writing today in support of limiting the wall plate height in the new R-A zoning district to 20 feet. The mass
and scale of buildings is a significant contributing factor in the character of a neighborhood. I do believe that 20 feet
is not only appropriate in most neighborhoods but will allow also for new compact development. Keep in mind that
by eliminating the minimum lot size, the new UDC will allow for the creation of small infill housing that was not
possible in the past. So this offers a way forward of increasing density without destroying character. We do not need
to up-zone or increase height to get more housing.
