Phil I August 17, 2025 Dear City Commission, A resident of the southside neighborhood for 30 years, I appreciate the diversity of my neighbors, eclectic architecture, mature trees, and proximity to MSU and downtown. I have lived alongside existing fraternities and sororities. Now the City of Bozeman is poised to consider zoning that could continue to allow Greek houses to establish in houses that lack adequate space and facilities for large gatherings in which events are routinely hosted with many more members and guests than are actual residents. This happened once already, and it created unnecessary stress including safety risks for neighbors, police, and for the fraternity itself, which was not able to thrive. I ask the City Commission to exercise common sense and take responsibility for not placing event centers, including ones that can serve alcohol and be sometimes raucous, in residential family neighborhoods. Please adopt a definition for new fraternities and sororities and prohibit new Greek chapter houses in R-A and R-B zones. This is in the best interest of all parties, especially the fraternities and sororities. Respectfully, - .2, #Jf Philip S. Stewart
