GROUNDWATER MONITORING MEMO
North Park West
BOZEMAN, MONTANA
OVERVIEW NARRATIVE
Sanderson Stewart conducted a groundwater monitoring analysis on the North Park West site
located on Wheat Drive in Bozeman, Montana. Thirteen, (13) monitoring wells were installed
across the site to determine peak groundwater depth. The purpose of this groundwater
monitoring analysis was to determine high groundwater depth to ultimately provide support in
the design and construction of a potential future development. The groundwater elevations
were measured using a Dipper-T water level meter within semi-permeable PVC pipes inserted
into the ground. A Monitoring Well Layout Exhibit is provided in the Appendix A. The
groundwater monitoring observations were conducted during the period of April 21, 2023,
through July 5, 2023, during the time when groundwater levels were predicted to be highest.
Shown below is a table and graph of the manual measurements recorded relative to the ground
surface during the study.

DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
All wells had groundwater present throughout the study. The peak groundwater elevation
varied widely depending on the well location, from approximately 1.7-7.7-feet below ground
surface. In Well # 1 from the span of June 1st to June 23rd no groundwater was present. The
data collected from the groundwater monitoring wells, both shown a peak groundwater
elevation occurring in late April. All wells have been receding since April but did see
groundwater come back up to a shorter peak in early June 2023. This minor peak is likely due
to the high rainfall events which occurred in that time.
CONCLUSION
Due to the results of the study, we recommend resuming groundwater monitoring earlier in
the Spring of 2024, from March until approximately June, to confirm groundwater does not
peak at a higher elevation than seen during this period of monitoring.
