PLEASE EXCUSE MY LATENESS AS I JUST GOT HOME FROM THE DOCTOR. Date:Tuesday, August 12, 2025 3:44:43 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. My name is Carla Jasinski, and my husband and I live at 406 Fowler Ave, atthe corner of Fowler and Jennifer. Patty Dickerson asked us to copy, paste, and send this to you, and I will add my own comments. "Tonight you will vote on the 60% of the plan for Fowler Ave Connection. Theplan has some flaws, and I would like you to consider taking these out of thecurrent plan. The plan calls for narrowing the road, by bumping out the blvd 5feet and widening the sidewalk for 2 way commuter bike lanes. - The road isalready quite narrow, so making this road more narrow, makes it dangerousfor people parking in the street. CARLA JASINSKI: MY HUSBAND AND IMEASURED THIS ROAD A COUPLE YEARS AGO, AND IT IS ONLYSIXTY FEET WIDE. BUMPING OUT THE BLVD 5 FEET AND WIDENINGTHE SIDEWALK FOR 2 WAY COMMUTER BIKE LANES WILL TAKETOO MANY FEET OUT OF THE ALREADY NARROW STREET. HOWWILL THERE BE ENOUGH SPACE FOR TWO LANES AND A TURNINGLANE? - It is difficult to grow trees on this blvd. Many of the home owners havereplaced their trees 2-3 times. CARLA JASINSKI: WE HAVE! There aresome older trees that would not make the move. We have had a very easysummer, so far, but this is not the norm and as our climate gets warmer, weneed those trees and the shade they are currently providing. Starting over withnew trees, means our neighborhood will be even hotter for quite a few years.- The reason for bumping out the blvd and widening the sidewalk, is toaccommodate 2 way commuter bike lanes.- No where in the city is there a bike lane on the sidewalk. And in this case, it’sfor just 2 blocks. CARLA JASINSKI: This whole project is unnecessary andexpensive. Must the City inconvenience the people living in 12 houses onFowler for this, especially at this expense?? How much of this expense will fallon the backs of the taxpayers? When is enough, enough? Has the land beenbought from Emil Anderson, and from John Bradley French south of the fenceat the end of Fowler? Until that happens, it is pointless to spend all the moneyplanning all of this.- The speed limit of 25 mph is too fast for an E-bike on a sidewalk, with peoplewalking and crossing to get to their parked cars. Some E-bikes can reachspeeds of 35 mph.- There are children that live on the 2 block section of Fowler Ave. The front yards are bigger to play in than the backyards, so there are children that playin the front yards.JASINSKI: TRUE! HAS THE CITY GIVEN ANY CONSIDERATION TOTHE NOISE POLLUTION WE WHO LIVE ON FOWLER WILLEXPERIENCE? HAS THE CITY GIVEN ANY CONSIDERATION TO THEHEALTH RISKS TO CURRENT RESIDENTS ON FOWLER? AKNOWLEDGEABLE EPIDEMIOLOGIST COULD PROVIDE THISINFORMATION. I AM A CANCER SURVIVOR OF 23 YEARS WITH ABRCA2 MUTATION THAT PUTS ME AT HIGHER RISK THAN THEGENERAL POPULATION FOR BREAST, OVARIAN, ALL THEDIGESTIVE CANCERS, KIDNEY AND BLADDER CANCERS, ANDMELANOMA. I CHOSE AND BOUGHT MY LOT IN 2012, AND NO ONE,NOT THE REALTOR, THE SELLER, NO ONE, TOLD ME ABOUT ANYFUTURE THROUGH STREET. THEN WHEN WE PRESENTED HOUSEPLANS TO THE CITY FOR BUILDING OUR HOUSE, NO ONE TOLD USABOUT IT EITHER. I ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHTTHIS LOT HAD I KNOWN A MINOR ARTERIAL WAS GOING TO BEBUILT RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT! AFTER INVESTING MY LIFESAVINGS IN THIS HOUSE, IT WILL NOT BE WORTH ITS VALUE,ALTHOUGH WE WILL GET TO PAY EXORBITANT TAXES ON IT. 516FOWLER WAS LISTED FOR A YEAR, AND IT DIDN'T SELL. PEOPLEWHO HAD AN OFFER ON ONE OF THE CONDOS NEAR DURSTONRESCINDED THEIR OFFER WHEN THEY FOUND OUT FOWLER WASGOING TO GO THROUGH. A LOCAL REALTOR HAS ALREADY TOLDME THAT IT IS LIKELY THAT MY HOUSE WILLNOT SELL FOR ITSMARKET VALUE, IF AT ALL, BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T WANT TOLIVE ON A BUSY STREET. Everyday there a lot of people who walk on this section of the sidewalk. Oldand young, some with dogs and some with strollers. JASINSKI: MYHUSBAND AND I CONTINUALLY SEE NEW FACES USING THEWALKING PATH. THEY MUST BE NEW RESIDENTS FROM OUT OFTHE IMMEDIATE AREA.- The speed limit in the road is 25 mph. There is traffic calming on the cornerof Jennifer and Fowler Ave, which is in the middle of the 2 block section. Thissection should be one of the safest to have the bike lane in the street. By notbumping out the boulevard, there would be plenty of room to have a commuterbike lane on the south bound side of the street, so those commuters in a hurryto get to work would not encounter people on the walk ways.- The expense of bumping out the boulevard, widening the sidewalk and thecost of maintaining this should be taken under consideration. IN UNCERTAINECONOMIC TIMES AS THESE, IT IS AN UNNECESSARY EXPENDITURETHAT IS PUT ON THE BACKS OF THE ALREADY TAXED TAXPAYERS!!Please, put yourselves in the shoes of the people that live on this street. If youlived here, you would not want a commuter bike lane on your sidewalk. Or consider, where you live. You would not want a commuter bike lane in front ofyour house. Thank you for voting to take this part of the project out of theplans. Patty Dickerson"
