While we all appreciate efforts to create affordable housing for our teachers , police,
firefighters and other persons who simply can't afford the exorbitant cost of housing inBozeman there are issues that should be taken into consideration when planning such projects.
The proposal for 3 or 3 story building is inappropriate and totally inconsistent withsurrounding neighborhoods,.all of which are limited to two story single family or duplex
homes. There is an oversupply of rental apartments in the Greater Bozeman area. That style of living
may be suitable for unmarried persons but raising a family in such a residence istotally unacceptable. An infant crawling about a home with multiple staircases is incredibly
dangerous.
Children need a bit of freedom and open air and grass to develop into well rounded adults. Nochild should be restricted to a life where they can not go outside , even to a small yard and
exercise freedom and use their imagination. That is what will develope a future generation ofthoughtful adults who are capable of contributing to society.
We need to think of who we want to occupy the proposed affordable housing. There is atremendous need for single family homes.
We should not be attempting to jam in as many units as possible into a very small piece ofproperty.
The current proposal is a great disservice to surrounding neighborhoods and to the proposedoccupants of Fowler Housing.
I request the zoning change and design be discarded. I request the project be granted a longertimeline to better consider the real needs of our neighborhoods and future residents of the
housing.Let's not be in such a hurry that we do not look at the potential impacts the current proposal
will have on the entire community. We need to consider the zoning and homes as something that will fit seamlessly into the
community. The proposal put forth by Harvest Creek is a good beginning. Let's start there and work
together to bring something of quality, like Bridger View into our city.
