Please share this letter with the commission: August 9, 2025 Regarding the FOWLER project in Harvest Creek Bozeman, MT I am a newer owning neighbor (2 years in November 2025) living at the end of Oliver Street within Harvest Creek. Unfortunately, I was out of town with the recent meeting. I encourage your committee to consider leaving dead ends as is. Oliver Street being so close would be a danger to pedestrians and traffic… to connect it so close to the entrance of this new road. Very young children are allowed to learn how to bicycle down Oliver Street because it is a dead end. I understand you’re at the close of plan completion. I only hope and pray that you listen to these serious traffic concerns. In addition, I am very concerned that the project plans suggest units being four stories high! This height does not blend in with an existing 1-2 story neighborhood. This does not seem fair to the existing taxpayers in our neighborhood . I realize the need for low income housing and the city should look at that. If you want four stories, you should be looking at some areas on the edge of Bozeman, but not directly in existing low height neighborhoods. That really seems like a slam to existing community members that bought residences in this neighborhood. So why did you choose this neighborhood to build four story units? A footprint is important and when it doesn’t match what’s around, it sticks out like an eyesore. Please consider these concerns. Thank you. Everyone is invited to attend this session. Detailed information regarding the agenda can be found on the City Commission website and is typically made available 72 hours prior to the scheduled City Commission meeting. This project will extend Fowler Avenue from Oak to Huffine as a 2-lane minor arterial, featuring shared-use paths in both directions, a roundabout at Annie and Durston, and a traffic signal at Babcock. Key changes from the 30% design phase from spring 2024, include the removal of the landscaped median and a 36-foot reduction in the proposed typical section by narrowing the boulevards from Oak to Durston. Additional revisions include fewer local street connections, the complete connection ofshared-use paths, and the introduction of traffic calming measures. The project will be completed in three phases: Oak to Durston (final design in 2025, construction in 2026), Durstonto Babcock (final design in 2026, construction in 2027), and Babcock to Huffine (final design in 2027, construction in 2028). During the presentation, staff will provide updates on the design, cost estimates, and recent public engagement results. Additionally, a Fowler Housing Work Session will beheld as part of the same City Commission meeting. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reachout!
