Dear City Commissioners, I am writing to express my support for the proposed Boutique Hotel project (Application 24147) in downtown Bozeman. As a Bozeman resident, I believe this is a great project that deserves the support of our community. The proposed watercourse setback deviation is crucial for improving Bozeman Creek. Currently, the creek is largely inaccessible and in need of ecological enhancement. This project offers a balanced approach that considers both public access and environmental stewardship. By allowing for improvements on private property, we can significantly enhance the creek's functionality and aesthetics, benefiting bothresidents and visitors. The hotel's commitment to adding green space and implementing water filtration measures demonstrates a responsible approach to urban development. It's worthnoting that without such a project, the creek area would remain degraded or even be walled off due to liability concerns. The hotel has a vested interest in maintaining and improving this natural asset, which aligns well with our city's long-term environmental goals. From an urban development perspective, this project represents a thoughtful use of the property. The location is well-suited for a hotel, especially given its proximity to the entertainment district. This project could serve as a catalyst for revitalizing anarea of downtown that has seen better days, potentially spurring further positive development in the vicinity. Economically, the hotel promises to provide much-needed support to our downtownbusinesses. Many local establishments have been struggling with high turnover rates, and this project could help stabilize the area by attracting more visitors. Additionally, by increasing the supply of rooms, we may see more affordable options for tourists, potentially broadening the appeal of our downtown to a wider range of visitors. In conclusion, I believe this project offers a balanced approach to development that considers environmental, urban planning, and economic factors. It represents a unique opportunity to improve a key natural asset while also addressing some of thechallenges facing our downtown area. I urge you to approve this application and allow our community to benefit from this thoughtful development. Thank you for your consideration.
