Dear Bozeman City Commissioners,
I am writing to urge you to vote against the proposed construction of a 6-story boutique hotel
on Mendenhall, until the project can establish a more community and environmentallycentered vision for development.
The proposed design disregards policies to protect Montana waterways by encroaching on the
required 35-foot setback from Bozeman Creek. The preservation of the East Gallatin andultimately the Gallatin River is too important to allow the current building plan.
Additionally, this project impacts public parking. New downtown development requires
projects to have parking in order to meet new demand. Downtown is facing greater parkingchallenges. In my opinion accessible parking is lacking, especially for the disabled
community, in our urban core. We need to preserve access to local businesses.
As a customer of Last Best Comedy, I am concerned that a lack of adherence to these policieswill negatively affect this local business as well as others nearby.
I urge the Commissioners to consider how the fast pace of development, without intentional
design, will impact our community and our local business owners long term.
Thank you for your time.
