Dear Bozeman City Commissioners,
I am writing as a Bozeman resident and a proud supporter of Last Best Comedy and otherlocal businesses downtown to express my deep concern regarding the proposed hotel
development behind the Bozeman Hotel building, which would eliminate essential sharedparking behind LBC.
Downtown Bozeman thrives because of its vibrant, community-driven small businesses.Establishments like Last Best Comedy are not just entertainment venues—they are community
hubs that foster creativity, connection, and economic vitality. Removing reasonable access toparking threatens the very foundation of what makes these places successful.
I respectfully urge you to uphold two long-standing policies already codified in the BozemanMunicipal Code:
1. The requirement that new developments provide adequate parking to meet thedemand they generate, and
2. The 35-foot setback from Bozeman Creek.
These rules exist for good reason. They were in place when the applicant purchased the
property, and they are fundamental to preserving the balance, safety, and sustainability ofdowntown Bozeman. Disregarding them for the benefit of a private project sets a dangerous
precedent that risks harming existing businesses—businesses that have invested in thiscommunity and rely on accessible parking to survive.
The current lot behind the Bozeman Hotel is a shared resource that serves a wide range oflocal establishments. It works well, and it works fairly. There is no reason the public should
lose this shared amenity, nor should long-standing businesses be pushed out by newdevelopment that fails to respect the rules we all live by.
Please protect what makes Bozeman unique. Stand up for local businesses by enforcing theexisting setback and parking requirements for this project.
Sincerely,
Danyon Satterlee
