Hi, I want all of you to get this message. It is important the MDT Projects do not negatively impact localtrees like they have in this Bozeman project. Please take note, and send this message on to the peopleinvolved in planning for these projects. Destruction of mature trees for more asphalt is not acceptable! Especially in situations like at Peach and 7th, which is likely to result in people speeding through a 15 MPHzone in front of an elementary school!Thank you for thinking about this in future MDT projects across our fine state.-Mary Bateson, Bozeman City and Montana Taxpayer

The Montana Department ofTransportation (MDT) and Knife Riverhave begun work on the 7th AvenueNorth Intersections project.
Peach Street is now closed forapproximately 3 weeks between 5thand 7th avenues while crews install aleft-turn lane. Access to residences andbusinesses will be maintained duringthe closure, and a pedestrian detourroute is in place.

About the project:
MDT and Knife River are upgrading fiveintersections on 7th Avenue North inBozeman. The project begins at theintersection of 7th Avenue North and WestMain Street, and continues north, endingnear the 7th Avenue North and NiklesDrive/Wheat Drive intersection. In addition toaddressing wear and tear on the roadway,this project will improve traffic flow along 7thAvenue North and improve the alignmentand operation of Peach Street and OakStreet, two intersecting roads.
Planned improvements include:Upgrading signals and sidewalks to beAmericans with Disabilities Act (ADA)compliantWidening Peach Street to provide adedicated westbound left turn laneWidening Oak Street to restore theshoulderCrack sealing and adding a seal andcover (chip seal) on 7th Avenue Northbetween West Main Street and theNikles Drive/Wheat Drive intersectionMilling and paving sections of the roadwith deep rutsApplying final pavement markings
