Becky and I agreed on a set of five questions to ask of each reference.1. Brief description of project(s) candidate worked on.
2. Ability to stay focused on goals3.Ability to meet timelines.
4.Responsiveness to feedback5. Quality of end product.
We divided the 6 references between us. I took two of Andrew's and one of WorkingVentures. We agreed to contact them by phone. I was unable to locate a phone number for
Nicholas Lovrich, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Washington State University and did notreceive a reply to my email.
As expected, the candidates listed references that held them in high regard.
Regarding Andrew Thomas, David Pearl, PhD Professor Olympic College, rated Andrew highon all five questions and noted his strong background in data collection and analysis. in
regard to successful engagement tactics he pointed to his work in Lewis and Clark county onland use policy and referenced that his published work was recognized for its readability. He
also noted his work with the legislature in writing bills as relevant to the position he wasapplying for.
Regarding Working Ventures, Miranda Swafford was out of the office but her colleague,
Tyler Lanz, recieved my voicemail and responded with Ms Swaffordd's permission. Shereferenced Working Ventures work re-launching the Healthcare Sector Board. She rated the
firm high on all five questions. In addition she noted that Working Ventures was easy to workwith and skilled in the area of bringing the industry (healthcare) leaders and employers
together.In a search of Facebook and Linkedin, I found no negative postings by or about either
