Dear Commission:
“Suburbs are one of the blights that American still has to exist with today.”
Deputy Mayor Joey Morrison.
I am writing this from my twin house in the Bozeman suburbs that I bought
after living in a terribly managed and constructed high-density apartment
building in downtown.
This “blight” allows me to walk a half a block from my home and take my dog
to the park.
This “blight” allows me to live in a wonderful neighborhood with the kindest
neighbors one of whom just came over to help me out with a project.
This “blight” allows me to afford living in Bozeman.
This “blight” allows me to grow fresh vegetables.
This “blight” allows me to have easy access to a quality and more than
sufficient grocery store.
This “blight” allows me to see the Gallatin and Bridger range every day.
This “blight” allows me to have enough room to allow my elderly parents to
visit.
This “blight” allows me to have a home office where I work from.
This “blight” allows me, as a very noise sensitive person, to live in a quiet
neighborhood without the stress of car traffic and other noise.
Before the Deputy Mayor decides to call whole neighborhoods blights,
perhaps he should think about the humans and voters that call those places
home. I feel like the Bozeman community is full of compassion and it is
disappointing to hear the soon to be mayor speak about so many of our
neighborhoods like that.
