I hope this message finds you well. I am writing as a born and raised resident of the
Bozeman area and to respectfully express my concern regarding any proposal to adopt thePride flag as the official flag representing our city.
While I fully support the rights of all individuals to express themselves and live freely, Ibelieve that our city flag should be a unifying symbol that represents the entire community —
regardless of background, beliefs, or identity. Adopting a flag that symbolizes a specificgroup, even with good intentions, may unintentionally create division by elevating one set of
values or identities over others in a public, governmental context.
A city flag should be inclusive by design and reflect the shared history, values, and aspirations
of all residents. If the current flag is under review or being considered for replacement, Iencourage the commission to involve the broader community in a collaborative design and
decision-making process that ensures the result represents everyone equally.
Thank you for your time and for your service to our community. I trust you will consider all
perspectives in your deliberations.
