Dear Commissioners,
My name is Mari Youngquist and I appreciate the opportunity to provide public. comment
requesting the commission to approve the Pride flag as an official city flag.
As a full time resident in Bozeman, non-profit employee, public land user, and student at theuniversity, I deeply care about the Bozeman community. I believe strongly that a community
should be a place in which all feel safe, celebrated, included, and represented. Marginalizedgroups have long been excluded from full participation in public life and policy, and without
intentional acts of inclusion, Without intentional visibility, the default assumption remains oneof exclusion, reinforcing harmful patterns of erasure and marginalization.
Flying the Pride flag is a simple and meaningful step in building a community that is inclusive
and feels safe for all. I plan to live in this community for many years to come and appreciatethe opportunity to share feedback. Thank you for considering my comment.
