Home My WebLink AboutPDF - NWE Land Exchange - Public HearingTuesday, July 15th 2025 Resolution Establishing Intent to Negotiate a Land Exchange with NorthWestern Energy in the City’s Lower Yards Property •Per Federal Code Requirements, NorthWestern Energy must rebuild “Bozeman City Gate #1” •Follows a similar exchange that occurred in 2011 •0.210 acres of City land in exchange for 0.169 acres of NWE land (net loss of ~1,786 square feet) •The City Commission must find the property in question is either no longer necessary to conduct city business or that the public interest may be furthered by the exchange (per Chapter 2, Article 8, Division 1, Bozeman Municipal Code) •Appraisal to determine monetary value •Negotiate terms of the exchange •Provisional adoption by Ordinance •Execute Exchange Agreement •Final adoption by Ordinance •Finalize survey and prepare deed transfer •Certificate of Appropriateness •Project construction •Targeting agreement by October 2025 •Construction – Spring 2026 Possible Motion: “I move to Adopt a Resolution Establishing Intent to Negotiate a Land Exchange in the City’s Lower Yards Property”
