July 14th, 2025 To the City Commissioners of Bozeman, I am very much opposed to the pride flag becoming an official city flag. I do not hate or dislike LGBTQ+ people. It is not for me to judge anyone. I wish them happiness and good health, but you simply cannot elevate one group’s “feelings” over another’s. My rights do not end where someone’s feelings begin. The pride flag is extremely divisive. They want you to think it is inclusive of all and therefore something we should all want, but we do not. I do not want a flag that symbolizes someone’s sexual preferences and ideologies that are against my moral beliefs. With that being said it makes me absolutely sick to think this flag could end up flying over one of my grandchildren’s schools. You certainly are not going to let a Jewish flag, a Palestinian flag, a Christian flag, etc become an official city flag because it simply would upset too many people. To elevate one group like this over another is divisive and unfair. You are opening the city up to all sorts of lawsuits. I for one do not like having to pay more and more taxes! Especially, for stupid lawsuits that don’t need to be. I know the queer group feels the flag should stay flying since it has been for the past 4 yrs. I was astonished when I found out that it had been flying over city hall and for that long. If I had been aware before I would have written in much sooner and so would a lot of other people. There is no place for flags that support a specific group or ideology to be flown on public property. Please respond and let me know how it got up in the first place. Thank you for your time. I hope you can see how passionate I am about this issue. Many of us have very strong feelings on this subject against the pride flag as an official flag. I am not against the pride flag in general. I am against the pride flag as an official city flag. Susan Homec Residential and Business property owner
