Dear Commissioners,
I am writing to express my sincere disappointment and concern regarding
the recent vote to replace the artificial flag with the Pride flag in Bozeman.
As a resident of Gallatin County, I believe in every individual’s right to
dignity and respect. However, I do not believe that replacing a symbol
intended to represent the unity of all citizens with one that highlights a
specific social or political cause serves the best interest of our broader
community.
Government buildings and public flag displays should strive to remain
neutral, representing all citizens regardless of political, cultural, or personal
beliefs. By flying the Pride flag in place of a unifying symbol, the County
Commission appears to prioritize one group’s identity over the inclusive
representation of the entire community.
I respectfully urge the commission to reconsider this approach and seek
solutions that honor and recognize all members of our community without
politicizing our shared public spaces.
Thank you for your time and for serving our county.
Sincerely,
Lauren Christian
