Commissioner and Other Esteemed Officials, As a trauma therapist, a longtime Bozeman resident (since 1997), and a mother, I write withdeep regard for all members of our community. Bozeman is a diverse and evolving city, and I have always appreciated its welcoming spirit. It is my understanding that the pride flag is being considered as Bozeman’s official city flag. While I value and respect every individual in our community, including those who identify asLGBTQ+, I have concerns about selecting a symbol that represents one specific aspect of identity—sexual orientation—as the emblem for our entire city. Bozeman is home to many groups who have historically faced marginalization or underrepresentation, including our Black, Jewish, Muslim, and Christian residents, as well aswomen who are increasingly stepping into leadership roles in business and civic life while also maintaining traditional responsibilities in the home. If we are to adopt an official city flag, I encourage the city to consider a symbol that represents the collective identity of all Bozeman residents—something that unites rather than risksdividing. Our flag should embody values such as inclusion, community, resilience, and shared civic pride without appearing to elevate one group over others. Thank you for your time and for your service to our community. I trust that your decision will reflect thoughtful consideration of all voices in Bozeman. Respectfully, Keli Tondre, LCPC
