We are writing to protest the changing of Bozeman's flag. To change our city flag to something that is solely about
sexual orientation seems divisive and unnecessary. Bozeman is a pretty open city, but we don't feel the need to make
LGBTQ the hallmark of our area. There are many views represented here, a major one being love of the outdoors
and the beauty of nature. We prefer that the qualities that attract people to this area be considered as the more
prominent values--our hiking trails, our care for the wilderness, our friendliness and compassion to all. Of course
that includes LGBTQ people, but we don't need a flag to focus on or prove that. To reduce our city to a symbol that
portrays a single issue is unnecessary. Please leave our city flag as is, sincerely, Jack and Jenny Thornburg.
