City Commissioners,
Please vote no on the pride flag resolution to be an official flag of the City of Bozeman at your
meeting on Tuesday July 15, 2025.
More time is needed to address this issue.
Find another way to show support to the pride flag if you must. Find a way to show support toall peoples.
Your resolution shows favoritism to a specific section of the population at large and therefore
is excluding all others. If a pride flag is flying at a Bozeman City building I will feel excluded.
Section 1, (1) and Section 3, (2)(a), of HB 819 should be upheld as is. You are going throughthe back door with this resolution. You are using a loophole and it seems, disregarding the
intention of Section 1, (1), and Section 3,(2),(a), of HB 819.
"Section 1. Legislative findings. The legislature finds that:(1) Government property, including state buildings and grounds, public schools, and other
government-owned facilities, should serve neutral governmental functions and not be used topromote political or ideological advocacy"
"Section 3
(2)(a) No flags or banners may be displayed on state property that represent a politicalviewpoint, including but not limited to flags or banners regarding a political party, race, sexual
orientation, gender, or political ideology."
If a pride flag becomes an official flag of Bozeman, what about all the other sexual flags. Allthe other sexual flags should be made an official City of Bozeman flag if the pride flag
becomes an official flag. Where would this trajectory end?
Which pride flag are you voting on? What does the flag you are voting on represent? Perhapsthat should be available information.
Again please vote no on this resolution at your meeting on Tuesday July 15, 2025.
