Dear Bozeman City Commission,
I’m am against adopting the LGBTQ+ flag as our city’s flag.
According to a brief online search, approximately 2.9% of Montana's population identifies as LGBTQ+. Hispanics
made up 4.7% of the state’s population as of 2023 and I’m sure it has increased since then. So why would we choose
to adopt the symbol of such a small minority of our population to represent our city? Why not fly the Mexican flag
instead? To me this just doesn’t make sense. Can’t we just treat every person as a person rather than drawing such
attention to sexual orientation or race?
Sincerely,
David Barnhart
