Dear Bozeman City Officials, I am writing to express my opposition to the proposal of adopting the LGBTQ+ flag as the officialcity flag. This flag does not represent our community as a whole, and therefore, it should not beused to symbolize the entire population of Bozeman. My name is Christina Haggerty. I have lived in and around Bozeman for over 20 years. Although I am originally from Lewistown, my Montana roots go back generations. My family is actively involved in local sports, education, festivals, and many beloved community events. We love where we live, and we are committed to participating in and supporting our community—including all members, LGBTQ+ individuals included. While the LGBTQ+ community is undoubtedly a part of Bozeman, adopting its flag as the symbol forthe entire city is a misrepresentation. We are not adopting the 4-H flag as our city flag, eventhough its participants may outnumber those in the LGBTQ+ community. Nor are we adopting theAwana flag, even though its membership may be comparable in size. Just a couple comparisons. Thecity flag should represent all of Bozeman. Do not change the city flag to represent something that does not encompass the community atlarge. Respectfully,Christina Haggerty
