I understand that the pride flag is meant to be a welcoming symbol, but by adopting it as an official city flag you will be playing favorites towards a particular group and alienating others. Bozeman is meant to be where people come to explore the great doors, to adventure, to get away from noisy cities, and to escape politics for a bit. By displaying a political flag we will be attacking our own identity. I personally go exploring when I need to get away from politics and that’s what people who visit here want. My fear is, that while displaying the flag may seem like a simple act, I can see it causing rivalries and hostilities between groups due to its unfair recognition over other parties, as well as hurting Bozeman’s revenue. By playing politics we may scare off people who spend money to come visit us. For the benefit of all living here, I ask that the city decide against this. If you would like to submit additional documents (.pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .gif, .jpg, .png, .rtf, .txt) along with your comment, you may alternately address comments@bozeman.net directly to ensure receipt of all information.
