Bozeman doesn’t have a growth problem. It has a leadership problem!
I’m writing as a long-time resident who has watched as this commission charges
ahead with shortsighted growth policies that threaten the very heart of
Bozeman. Your relentless push to upzone and pack high-density multifamily buildings
into long-established single-family neighborhoods isn’t “smart growth” — it’s careless,
out of touch, and destroying what makes this town so special.
We’re not opposed to growth. We’re opposed to reckless, scattershot developmentthat ignores infrastructure limits, bypasses thoughtful planning, and steamrolls the
families who’ve built their lives here. You keep claiming you’re fighting for
“affordability,” yet your approach of cramming dense apartment blocks into every
corner hasn't solved a darn thing. You're actually making it worse.
You work for the people of Bozeman. Your only responsibility is to protect the long-
term well-being of this community — not to chase political pet projects or serve
special interests. It’s time to start listening to the residents you represent and put an
immediate stop to this destructive madness toward overdevelopment. Bozemandeserves a plan that respects residents, protects property rights, and preserves the
character that makes this place worth calling home. The community is watching —
and people are pissed.
Sincerely, Nicole Legault
