Dear Bozeman City Commissioners, I am writing as a concerned citizen to express my opposition to the proposal to adopt the Prideflag as the official city flag of Bozeman. While I fully respect the right of all individuals to express their identities and values, I believethat adopting a flag that represents only one group of citizens does not reflect the inclusive and united community we all strive for. The American flag already stands as a symbol of freedom, equality, and unity for everyone—regardless of race, gender, religion, or orientation. By designating a flag that highlights one specific group, the city risks alienating others andsetting a precedent that could invite similar requests from a wide variety of causes or identities. Our public symbols should strive to unify, not divide, and adopting the Pride flag asthe city’s official symbol could unintentionally create an atmosphere of favoritism or bias. I respectfully urge you to keep the focus on symbols that represent all of us equally. TheAmerican flag—and, where applicable, our state flag—already powerfully and inclusively represent the ideals we share. Thank you for your time and consideration. -- T.C. Miceli Resident Bozeman, MT
