Commissioners— Governments should be a neutral governing body for ALL residents, not showing allegiance or bias to one group over its citizenry as a whole. When you add the pride flag to government buildings, you are putting that group of people above people who do not identify with this flag. You are creating tension with people who may not agree with this ideology for personal or religious reasons. Our United States and Montana state flags already represent EVERYONE who is a US citizen and/or anyone lives in Bozeman and Montana. Why put one group of people on a pedestal when they are already included under our current flags? Members of the LGBTQ community can see support all around, businesses have pride flags and stickers in windows, schools (even elementary) have LGBTQ members of staff and pride stickers in faculty office windows, Bozeman area homes have pride flags and signs, June is Pride month. Why must our supposedly fair and just government add the pride flag to our taxpayer funded buildings? It does not represent everyone, it panders to the loudest group while alienating others.
