I'm a homeowner in Bozeman's NE neighborhood,fourth-generation Montanan, non-profit employee, and full-time graduate student.Queer visibility through the pride flag as a symbol of empowerment and presenceholds deep importance to me. During June as Pride month, but especially throughoutthe year, the Pride flag can serve as a life-giving signal for the LGBTQ+ community. In a time where external influences seek to minimize, devalue, and make places moredangerous for LGBTQ+ people, our community must counteract erasure by takingaction with visible demonstrations of support. Visual cues, particularly those fromcivic leaders and institutions, are powerful ways to show that LGBTQ+ folks belong, and are welcomed, in Bozeman. We, together, have the power to co-createBozeman's future as one that inspires people of all different backgrounds andidentities to live into their whole selves. I urge the City Commission to approve thePride flag as an official city flag, and bravely take this stance for what's right throughdoing so. Thank you. Your neighbor,Courtney Naumann
