Dear Commissioners:
My husband, Jim Goetz and I, Jill Davenport reside at 1019 S. 3rd Ave. We are unable to attend the meeting, but
offer these following comments.
First, We endorse the comments made by our neighbor, Kathy Powell in her two recent submissions.
We encourage the Commission to reject the mystical concept of “ Wall Plates” ——
a concept no one can ( including your own Planners) satisfactorily explain. Please return to the simpler height
(measured in feet) standard.
Also we had thought that you had settled the issue of how many units would be allowed in the new RA zone, which
would allow duplexes and ADUs single family.
Now, there seems to be backtracking on that.
Our neighborhood, and others are resolutely opposed to any such backtracking.
Finally, we agree with Kathy Powell that NO Greek houses should be allowed in RA.
Our neighborhood has already suffered the unfortunate experience of a new fraternity starting up on Garfield.
Though this fraternity has left, we believe the UDC should be proactive in precluding new Greek Houses in what
are essentially quiet single family neighborhoods.
