As a resident of Figgins subdivision, I am writing to express that I'm strongly opposed
to the new UDC proposal that would allow for no limit on the number of units allowed
in low-density neighborhoods like mine. Our neighborhood was NOT designed for
accommodating that strain on parking, noise, and traffic, and with two schools right
here (elementary and middle) it would cause increased congestion. WE ARE
ALREADY CONGESTED WITH STUDENT DROPOFF AND PICKUP, and allowing
major densification will increase traffic and be harmful to all the pedestrians walking
to school.
I support allowing ADUs and buildings with up to two units per building in this area-
that is what is appropriate for maintaining safety, character, and quality of life for
local residents.
Please build this in new developments purposely designed to accommodate that type
of density- attempting to do it retroactively will be a disaster and is a complete sellout
to developers. REPRESENT YOUR RESIDENTS, not developers!
Your tone-deaf support of something like this shows that the commissioners are
woefully out of step with the comments and input that have flooded in after the initial
botched UDC that tried to get snuck in past the neighborhoods. Inacceptable. This
latest bait and switch is equally unacceptable and shows no effort to maintain the
current character of established neighborhoods. Completely out of step with the
sentiments expressed at every public engagement that has occurred over the last
year+.
