I am writing to share a perspective on the display of Pride flags on government property. I
understand that symbols can be interpreted in various ways, and I believe it's important toclarify the intent behind this particular one.
The presence of a Pride flag on government grounds is, at its core, a powerful symbol ofinclusivity and an acknowledgment of our shared humanity. It signifies a commitment to
ensuring that all members of our community, including LGBTQ+ individuals, feel seen, valued, and respected. This is not about promoting a specific political agenda or adhering to
"woke" or "PC culture." Instead, it represents a fundamental dedication to the principles ofequality and dignity for every person.
When government property displays the Pride flag, it sends a clear message that ourinstitutions are striving to be welcoming and safe spaces for everyone, regardless of their
sexual orientation or gender identity. This is about fostering an environment where diversity iscelebrated, and where individuals are empowered to live authentically without fear of
discrimination.I hope this clarifies the perspective on why the display of Pride flags on government property
is a meaningful and important gesture of support for all members of our community.Sincerely,
Joshua L. Anderson
