Growing up here, it was always apparent that the plethora of opportunities, activities, and hobbies thatone can participate in within the Bozeman community were open and available to all, regardless of background. Whether hiking up Drinking Horse Mountain or participating in acommunity theatre production at The Ellen, our community has strived to make all feel included and encouraged to partake in these unique opportunities that make our communitygreat. With this in mind, I advocate strongly for the Pride flag to be flown at Bozeman City Hall. This symbol of community and strength advocates to Bozeman's queer youth that they arevalued and cared for by the community at large and ultimately safe to exist within the world. When we as a community raise the Pride flag, we’re raising the standard for what kind of community we want Bozeman to be and continue to be and grow towards: one that includes everyone, not just the majority. What draws people to Bozeman, and keeps them here as in my case, is the beauty of the area and the ideology that anyone can enjoy our public lands. Just as the mountains are an emblem to all for exploration and belonging, the Pride flag can and will send the same message to local and traveling members of the LGBTQIQA+ community and allies that Bozeman and its residents stand for equality, love, community, and support. I urge you the city commission to follow in the steps of other Montana communities and approve the Pride flag as an official city flag Thank you for your time. Best,Christina Heagney
