Dear Bozeman City Commission:
I am emailing you to address the current debate around whether or
not Bozeman should adopt the pride flag as the official city flag.
Please do not do this. It is a bad idea.
Flags throughout history have been used to unite its citizenry.
They are meant to create unity. They have never been intended to
divide a community, or to represent a specific group within said
community.
If Bozeman adopts any flag as its official city flag other than the flag
of the United States Of America, and the Montana State flag, you will
be creating division within our community which is not going to help
or support any of its members.
I urge you to be the adult in the room and to think very seriously
about the consequences of your actions in this matter.
Regards,
James Colyer
