My name is Maury Wiegand, and I’ve been a business owner and resident of
Bozeman for the past 30 years. My husband Bruce and I have raised four children in
the Gallatin Valley and have been deeply involved in local sports, cultural activities,
and community events.
Outside our home in Gardner Park, we fly two flags nearly every day of the year: the
American flag and the Pride flag. As the parents of a gay son and two children of
African descent, these flags are a visible expression of our core belief—that everyindividual deserves respect, dignity, and support, with recognition and celebration of our
diversity.
Bozeman has been a beacon of that support for our family, and we hold deep
gratitude for the way this community has embraced us. We sincerely hope the
Commission reflects that same spirit by endorsing the Pride flag as a symbol of the
inclusive, welcoming city Bozeman strives to be.
