Dear City Commission,
I feel the need to communicate my concern for the cost removing the pride flag has had on our
Bozeman community. I have always loved Bozeman because it has felt like a place where ourcommunity has supported it’s diversity and inclusivity. In recent years division has fostered
hate and intolerance as well as legitimate threats on our community members with deep rootsto the growth and development of Bozeman as a city. Last summer there were bomb threats
for Steep Mountain that instilled fear in employees from multiple businesses affected byhaving to evacuate. I have seen and heard comments made in public places that express
intolerance and hate. It has pained me to see Bozeman take the pride flag down without anyeffort or urgency to support the diversity and inclusivity Bozeman has grown to be known for.
This has empowered hate and intolerance and further divides our community members. Pleaseput on the agenda with urgency to put the pride flag back up as a historical flag, or any method
that allows Bozeman to represent itself for the unity it is aspiring to have, and the support forour community members that are being targeted with hate and intolerance. Please silence the
voices that are nurturing this culture of hate and intolerance, and celebrate the communitiesthat Bozeman has grown to include.
Thank you for listening.
Sincerely,
Erin
