Dear City Commission Members, When we came to Bozeman in the late 70s, one of the things we appreciated most was the “live and let live” attitude we found here. Over the years we have coined a phrase for the daily interactions we still enjoy. We call it “Montana nice.” It’s the pleasant, helpful manner of cashiers, the friendly wave on the road, and the immediate help of a neighbor when a pipe breaks or they snow plow out our snowed-in transgender daughter after a major snowstorm. We have always found Bozeman to be a welcoming place and we are deeply dismayed to see the Montana legislature try to pass some of the most anti-trans legislation in the country. Fortunately, we have a state constitution that protects individual rights, privacy and dignity - which most Montanans honor. But angry voices can be loud and ugly, attacking some of our most vulnerable at a time when they need our support more than ever. We want Bozeman to be a place that welcomes and takes care of ALL our citizens - straight, queer, special needs, young, old, and everyone in between. We would love to see our city adopt the Pride flag as an important symbol that shows what kind of open, generous, respectful, welcoming people live here. Please adopt the Pride flag and keep Montana nice alive in our community. Yours respectfully, Sydney and Brian Wallace 118 Kirsha Lane Bozeman, MT 59718
