Dear Commissioners,
I’m writing to respectfully request that the Bozeman city flag continue to be flown outside City
Hall. I’m not sure what the motivation is for replacing it with any other flag—especially one as
politically and socially charged as the Pride flag.
One of the things people appreciate most about Bozeman is how welcoming and friendly our
community is. Flying a flag that many see as divisive risks undermining that spirit. City Hall
should represent all residents, and the government should not be advocating for any political
agenda.
In my view, it was a poor leadership decision to fly the Pride flag in the first place. I hope future
choices reflect a commitment to governing not politicking in our public institutions.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Nancy A. Clark
