Dear Members of the Bozeman City Commission, I am writing as a member of our Bozeman community to respectfully urge you to continueflying the Pride flag during Pride Month and at appropriate times throughout the year as a visible commitment to diversity, inclusion, and support for the LGBTQ+ community. Bozeman has long been known for its vibrant culture, welcoming spirit, and progressive values. Flying the Pride flag is more than symbolic — it’s a declaration that all who live here, visit here, or choose to raise families here are seen, valued, and protected, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This act of solidarity has a powerful impact, especiallyon LGBTQ+ youth, who face disproportionately high rates of mental health struggles and discrimination. Seeing their city embrace them sends a message of hope, belonging, andacceptance. Removing the Pride flag or choosing not to fly it in the future would be a step backward —not just in terms of representation, but in the message it sends about whose identities are celebrated and supported in public spaces. We have the opportunity to lead by example and toreinforce that Bozeman stands for equality, dignity, and compassion for all. The Pride flag is not a political statement; it is a human one. It communicates what we allwant for our neighbors and ourselves — to live authentically, safely, and with respect. Thank you for your ongoing leadership and for considering this request to continue flying thePride flag in our city. I am proud to call Bozeman home, and I hope we continue to show that Bozeman is proud of all its people. With appreciation, Katie dolen Sent from my iPhone
