Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. Honorable Mayor Cunningham, Deputy Mayor Morrison, and Commissioners Bode, Fischer, and Madgic: It is not often that I make two requests of the Commission in one letter, and you fulfill themboth in one meeting: taking item F.2 off the Consent Agenda and agreeing to put on a futureCommission agenda a discussion and vote on requiring that a vote to reconsider a previousCommission action be an Action Item and not placed on the Consent Agenda. Thank you. Iwish I had thanked Commissioners Madgic and Fischer when I spoke, to let people know thatyou do read public comment and take suggestions and requests seriously. I think it will serve the Commission and the public well to require that reconsideration votesbe Action Items. That said, I do hope it doesn't happen very often. I worry that your vote on Tuesday to reconsider the Boutique Hotel application will havenegative impacts in terms of public perception. As I said in my letter, my understanding is thata citizen unhappy with a City decision would have to pay a $2,000 fee, file an intent to appealwithin 5 days of the decision, and then file the actual appeal within 10 days of the decision. Inthis case, it feels like the developer (and/or his representative) had special access and was ableto avoid the appeal process and request a reconsideration of the decision instead. I know youhave good intentions and that you wil hold a fair hearing, but the process doesn't feel fair tome. With my best,Amy Kelley Hoitsma
