Hello Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Commissioners, and Community Development Department, Thanks to Commissioner Jen Madgic for proposing this 6-month Moratorium and to all in support. Please act on Commissioner Madgic's recommendation at the June 3rd commission meeting to enact a pause, a temporary moratorium, on large developments (35,000sq ft) within the NCOD. We need this pause while we craft tools to manage mass and scale together as a community in the UDC update and rework the zoning map to make sure development entitlements match community desires. I personally know of many Bozeman residents who have been impacted by these Large Developments across our City. And in my own NW Kirk Park Neighborhood direct example - which I am following very closely with my Condo Board of Directors - sadly, under former City Staff leadership, our recommendations to mitigate the worstof this large development to achieve a "win-win" solution have been totally ignored. Our "Monstrosity" on Main Street and 20th that the Developers, after 3 application attempts, are not even at 30-40% to meet City requirements across 14 Departments that was "approved" under the leadership of the former City Manager and CommunityDevelopment Director. Since then, we all discovered who weren't up to their jobs. Much less to make decisions based on fulfillment of many key City policies and values. This Large Development is one clear case and I suspect there are many others where our City's livability, housing affordability, sustainability, community safety and other key priorities are at stake. We can do better and this is a great opportunity. Thank you for your consideration and all the good you do. Please vote at your June 24th meeting to enact this temporary moratorium as soon as possible! Sincerely, Jan Strout 13 year Resident, NW Kirk Park Neighborhood
