I recently noticed that one of the City Commissioner's proposed adopting the Pride flag as the
city flag for Bozeman. While many of us support what the Pride flag represents, that does not
make it appropriate to have this flag represent our community when we are aware that there
are many in the community who would not support the Pride flag as the representative flag for
our city. When choosing a flag to represent one's city, it should be something that the vast
majority of citizens will support and be proud of. Designating the Pride flag as the city's flag
certainly does not meet that criteria. Instead, it gives the appearance that our commissioners
are trying to push a political agenda, rather than looking after the desires of the community as
a whole.
