To whom it concerns: I would like to weigh in on the proposal for the city flag of Bozeman to be the Pride flag. This flag is tied to an ideology that does not represent the viewpoint I hold and I’m sure manyothers in town. A flag for a city should symbolize the history, geography and values of a city and should not be tied to a social agenda. This would not be a unifying move for our city - itwould bring further division to our residents. I do not have an issue with the LGBTQ community or for them to have places to celebrate their viewpoints or fly the Pride flag atactivities sponsored by them. But to use this flag to represent our whole city is not representative of our population. Bozeman already supports its LGBT community through“pride” month proclamations, the Belonging in Bozeman Plan, an LGBT-liaison on staff, sponsorship of “pride” events, and “pride” event fee waivers. A neutral flag prioritizestimeless principles and ensures all voices are welcome without favoring any group or ideology. The flag for the city should be not connected with any political platform butrepresent the land and the beauty of Montana - there are many symbols of mountains, animals, landscapes and colors that would be acceptable for all residents. Please do not tie this flag togroup with an agenda. Respectfully, Louise Jones
